Pueblo Nuevo Netlabel is pleased to present “Oceans Reimagined”, a remix album of intercultural online jamming by Various Artists and the network music ensemble Ethernet Orchestra.

Pueblo Nuevo Netlabel se complace en presentar “Oceans Reimagined”, álbum de remezclas de jams interculturales en línea de Varios Artistas y el ensamble de música online Ethernet Orchestra.

Review / Reseña:

Oceans Reimagined is a tele-collaborative remix project that seeks to further open the borders of telematic music making to encompass asynchronous telematic post-production. Selected artists were invited to reimagine one or more recordings, from Ethernet Orchestra’s 2020 album, Oceans between Sound (pn150). The aim was to extend the concept of the oceans and waterways separating geographically displaced performers, as a metaphor for the ebb and flow of networked data that traversed the Internet in the making of the work. Each track on this album is a digital reconfiguration of distributed audio streams captured as data pinging around the network.

Oceans Reimagined illustrates the creativity that can be shared and re-imagined through geographically dispersed collaboration between artists of different cultures.

Oceans Reimagined (Océanos reimaginados) es un proyecto tele-colaborativo de remixes que busca abrir aun más las fronteras de la creación musical telemática abarcando ahora la postproducción telemática asincrónica. Artistas seleccionados fueron invitados a reimaginar uno o más temas del álbum Oceans between Sound (pn150), editado en 2020 por Ethernet Orchestra. El objetivo era ampliar el concepto de océanos y vías fluviales que separan a los artistas desplazados geográficamente, como una metáfora del flujo y reflujo de datos en red que atravesaron Internet para la realización de esta obra. Cada pista de este álbum es una reconfiguración digital de transmisiones de audio, distribuidas en la red como un ping de datos.

Oceans Reimagined ilustra la creatividad que se puede compartir y reinventar a través de la colaboración geográficamente dispersa entre artistas de diferentes culturas.

Ethernet Orchestra would like to dedicate this release to artist, Patsy Farrar, who passed away in May 2021. Patsy painted the artwork for the original Oceans between Sound release by listening to the music, and spontaneously painting what she heard. She submitted several paintings inspired by the music, which also form the basis of the artwork for this release. Patsy will always be in our memories, and her work lives on in ours.

We would also like to thank Mika Martini and the Pueblo Nuevo team for sharing the vision of this release, Caroline Myers for designing the sleeve layout, and the artists who were inspired to contribute to the album, as well as the talented players we get to perform and record with.

Ethernet Orchestra dedica este lanzamiento a la artista Patsy Farrar, quien falleció en mayo de 2021. Patsy pintó la obra de arte para el disco original de Oceans between Sound oyendo la música y pintando espontáneamente lo que escuchó. Presentó varias pinturas inspiradas en la música, que también forman la base de la carátula de este lanzamiento. Patsy siempre estará en nuestros recuerdos y su trabajo sigue vivo en el nuestro.

También nos gustaría agradecer a Mika Martini y al equipo de Pueblo Nuevo por compartir la visión de este lanzamiento, a Caroline Myers por el diseño de la portada, y a los artistas que se inspiraron para contribuir en este álbum, así como a los talentosos músicos con los que llegamos a tocar y grabar.
