Pueblo Nuevo Netlabel is pleased to present “Libre Albedrío”, album from transdisciplinary mexican artist Antonio Isaac Gómez.

PRESENTACIÓN / OVERVIEW:

“Libre Albedrío” / Free Will es la primera entrega de una serie que el artista ha concebido desde la resistencia al algoritmo del sistema y la obsolescencia programada, en un mundo hiperconectado rodeado de ruido y saturado de opciones en una enrarecida mediosfera altamente compleja, este álbum propone que la capacidad de decisión sigue siendo rayo de luz tanto personal como colectivo donde efectivamente somos capaces de seguir eligiendo qué escuchar y en qué tiempo hacerlo. Altamente emocional y contemplativo, “Libre Albedrío” es un viaje a través de la mente colmena en la que todos estamos conectados, nos lleva desde el cielo cyberpunk de “Globos volando en el ruido blanco” hasta paisajes imaginarios alimentados por la ciencia de nuestro propio planeta. Como parte del eje creativo del autor, este álbum continúa con su mensaje acerca de la relación entre el ser humano y el importante equilibrio que debe restaurar con su medio ambiente, de esta forma momentos como “Bosque de las Almas” está basado en el comportamiento de enjambre observado en la visita de la Mariposa Monarca en México durante su gran migración. En contraste, “Horizonte estocástico” nos plantea la manifestación de la complejidad alcanzada por las relaciones económicas de los mercados actuales, altamente tecnificados y globalizados, que por más artificiales resultan extraordinariamente similares al comportamiento de aquellos enjambres de insectos. “Libre Albedrío” también es una sonificación constante, una obra en proceso que nos lleva a celebrar la vida pero también conmemorar la muerte, “Pequeña estrella de semillas” es la pieza final del álbum pero el inicio de un nueva etapa que para el autor representa el resurgimiento y renacimiento, no sólo de la bella flor de montaña en la que se basa (Eryngium proteiflorum, película documental en cuya banda sonora se encuentra esta composición) sino la posibilidad de asimilar profundamente una forma ciberespacial en la que se sumerge para el permanente diálogo que sostiene con su audiencia. “Libre Albedrío” integra a 1Z4K, ciborg homónimo a su creador que a través del uso de sistemas de inteligencia artificial y la apropiación de los biosensores del humano que lo complementa, genera su propia experiencia estética, primera en una entidad ciborg, y que como resultado canta para todos nosotros a lo largo del álbum de una forma misteriosa y totalmente integrada al paisaje sonoro total de la obra completa, gran hazaña descubrir cada canto ciborg.

Técnicamente hablando, “Libre Albedrío” es un álbum compuesto a través de síntesis analógica modular evadiendo la intervención de las notas como interfaz humano máquina y trabajando mucho más en el concepto de frecuencias, fundamento que el autor lleva a su límite al utilizar subfrecuencias, binauralidad, ambisónicos y ultrasonido para la generación de estados de conciencia inducidos referentes a las formas expresivas de la obra completa adicionalmente enriquecida con arte plástica, visual e instalación inmersiva disponible en realidad virtual. Utiliza una enorme cantidad de elementos analógicos con tan solo algunos matices digitales para técnicas de síntesis avanzada como granulación y procesamiento a través de impulsos de respuesta para reverberadores de convolución.

El álbum ha sido grabado completamente en directo y existe una versión apreciable en realidad virtual multicanal que ocasionalmente el autor presenta como parte de sus intervenciones sonoras en vivo.

“Libre Albedrío” / Free Will is the first installment of a series that the artist has conceived from the resistance to the algorithm of the system and programmed obsolescence in a hyperconnected world surrounded by noise and in a rarefied complex environment saturated with options. This album proposes that the ability to make decisions continues to be a ray of light, both personal and collective, where we can continue choosing what to listen to and when to do it. Highly emotional and contemplative, “Libre Albedrío” / Free Will is a journey through the hive mind where all of us are connected, taking us from the cyberpunk sky of “Balloons Flying in White Noise” to imaginary landscapes fueled by science on our planet. As part of the author’s creative axis, this album continues to tell us about the relationship between human beings and the balance with their environment that has to be restored. This way, “Forest of Souls” is based on the swarm behavior observed during the visit of the Monarch Butterfly in Mexico during its great migration. “Stochastic Horizon” in contrast, presents us the manifestation of the complexity reached by the economic relations of current highly globalized markets that use technology, which, despite being artificial, are extraordinarily similar to the behavior of those swarms of insects. Libre Albedrío / Free Will is also a continuous sonification, a work in process. It takes us to celebrate life but also to commemorate death, “Little Seed Star” is the final piece of the album but the beginning of a new stage, for the author represents resurgence and rebirth, not only of the beautiful mountain flower that serves as inspiration (Eryngium proteiflorum, documentary film on whose soundtrack this composition takes part) but the possibility of profound assimilating a cyberspatial form in which he is immersed for the permanent dialogue that he maintains with his audience. “Libre Albedrío” / Free Will integrates 1Z4K, a cyborg with the same name as its creator who, through the use of artificial intelligence systems and the appropriation of the biosensors of the human that compliments him, generates his own aesthetic experience, the first in a cyborg entity, and who as a result sings for all of us throughout the album in a mysterious way and integrated into the soundscape of the complete work, quite a feat to discover each cyborg chant.

Technically speaking, “Libre Albedrío” / Free Will is an album composed through modular analog synthesis, avoiding the intervention of notes as a human-machine interface and working much more on the concept of frequencies, a foundation that the author takes to its limit by using subfrequencies, binaural sound, ambisonics, and ultrasound for the generation of induced states of consciousness referring to the expressive forms of the complete work additionally enriched with visual artwork and immersive installation available in virtual reality. He uses a lot of analog elements with just a few digital nuances for advanced synthesis techniques like granular and impulse convolution processing.

The album has been live recorded, and there is an available version in multichannel virtual reality that the author occasionally performs as part of his live sound interventions.
