[BIO] José Vicente Asuar (1933 – † 2017) [Chile]

José Vicente Jesús Asuar Puigrrós (Santiago de Chile, 20 de julio de 1933 – † 11 de enero de 2017​), pionero de la música electroacústica en Chile y Latinoamérica, realizó sus estudios musicales en Chile y Alemania (1959-60) donde fue alumno de Boris Blacher y asistió a los cursos de Daarmstadt. También fue Ingeniero Civil.

En 1958 fundó el primer laboratorio de música electrónica de América Latina en la Universidad Católica de Chile, donde compuso «Variaciones Espectrales», su primera obra electrónica. Luego fundó y dirigió laboratorios de música electroacústica en Karlsruhe (Alemania, 1960), Caracas (Venezuela, 1965) y en la Universidad de Chile (1969). En 1978 creó su propio laboratorio personal: el COMDASUAR.

Durante su carrera de músico y técnico de música electroacústica, Asuar compuso una gran cantidad de obras principalmente de música electroacústica, y también instrumental, las que han sido editadas en numerosos discos en Chile y el extranjero. Entre otros, fue el autor de los discos pedagógicos «El Computador Virtuoso» y «Así Habló el Computador».

Ganó numerosos premios en concursos internacionales de composición electroacústica. Fue profesor de acústica y de electroacústica en la Facultad de Artes de la Universidad de Chile y fundador de la carrera de Tecnología del Sonido de la misma Facultad.

José Vicente Asuar, pioneer of electroacoustic music in Chile and Latin America, he makes his musical studies in Chile and Germany (1959/60) where he was student of Boris Blacher and attends the courses of Daarmstadt.

Also he is Civil Engineer. On 1958 he founds the first laboratory of electroacoustic music in Latin America, in the Catholic University of Chile, where he composes «Variaciones Espectrales», his first electronic work. Soon he founds and he directs laboratories of electroacoustic music in Karlsruhe, Germany (1960), Caracas, Venezuela (1965) and in the University of Chile (1969).

In 1978 he creates his own personal laboratory: COMDASUAR. During his career as a musician and technician of electroacoustic music, Asuar mainly composes a great amount of works of electroacoustic, but also instrumental music, those that have been published in numerous discs in Chile and abroad.

Among others, he is the author of pedagogical discs as the Virtuous Computer and Thus the Computer Spoke. Also it has win numerous prizes in international contests of electroacoustic composition.

He was professor of acoustics and electroacoustic in the Faculty of Arts of the University of Chile and founder of a training in Sound Technology in the same Faculty.
